Developing HCSW and developing the team: the master class model

The Masterclass process is one way for teams to maximise the Transforming Roles agenda, and to help ensure that HCSWs have clearly structured roles plus the skills, training, tools and time they need to work effectively.

The HCSW Masterclass emphasises the need to:

  • empower teams to innovate and make things better
  • nurture team working and professionalism
  • develop leadership skills and competencies at all levels
  • put new and extended roles into practice.

The masterclass approach is centred around the HCSW Framework to develop Support Worker roles and maximise their contribution to their teams.

The model originated as a series of face-to-face facilitated sessions and moved to facilitated online sessions during the pandemic.   Typically the masterclass model comprises three facilitated sessions usually held over a 4-6 month period.
