Where to start?
Spending some time to familiarise yourself before you go to use the Framework is recommended as this will save you time in the long run. The website navigation video can help you. Access the navigation video transcript.
A good place to start is understanding how the Framework is structured, go to the Framework Structure page and take some time to review the information on:
- Levels of Practice
- Pillars of Practice

Framework Tools and Resources
The Framework contains tools and resources to support the user. These are found in the Framework Structure page.
Tools
Development Needs Analysis Tool (DNAT)
Is a tool to help you identify your learning and development needs. The DNAT uses the KSB statements and a self-assessment rating process. For more information go to Development Needs Analysis Tool subsection. The DNAT is an essential component of the framework and requires to be completed. It is available as a work document or an online form for each level of the Framework.
Framework Reflective Self-assessment Tool
This tool serves as an alternative to the Framework Development Needs Analysis Tool (DNAT). This reflective self-assessment tool is designed to help you evaluate the knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) outlined in the Framework for your level of practice. It encourages you to reflect on your job role, identify areas for potential growth, and recognise opportunities for further development.
For more information go to Framework Reflective Self-assessment Tool page.
Education Mapping Tool
To assist education providers in mapping modules and programs to specific knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs), a comprehensive template displaying all KSBs for each pillar of practice is available. For more information go to the Framework Structure page.
This information will support education providers and managers in guiding practitioners to relevant courses and educational opportunities that align with each KSB in the Framework.
Action Planning and Priority Rating Tool
Is an optional simple planning and prioritising tool to help you formulate a plan to achieve your learning needs.

Resources
There is a Useful Resources section within each level of the framework where you can access a list of learning and development resources linked to the level of practice selected to support with personal development activity. This can be found on the Access the Framework page subheadings.
Take some time to review the tools and resources and think about how you might use them.
